Background and History
Based in La Grange, IL, the Salt Creek Sinfonietta (SCS) was formed in 1996, giving its first concert in November of that year. The SCS is one of Chicagoland’s newest jewels and a premiere chamber orchestra. Garnering the praises of the Illinois Council of Orchestras for several years, including the "2004 Chamber Orchestra of the Year" award, and award representation for 4 out of 5 years, its members are well-seasoned musicians, sharing their gift of music. Many of the players sit in the principal seats of other area ensembles, making the group a kind of “All-Star Orchestra.” Presenting a regular "all classics" concert season of 5 concerts in La Grange on Sunday afternoons at 3 pm - from October through May - the Salt Creek Sinfonietta offers its community members and audience a high quality chamber orchestra, outstanding and affordable entertainment with excellent acoustics, open seating and ample free parking in the lovely, convenient sanctuary of its present concert home, First United Methodist Church (located at 100 W. Cossitt Ave., La Grange, IL). Additionally, the SCS often performs collaborative concerts with other area groups outside of its regular concert season.
