Laurel
is a flutist and flute teacher in the western suburbs. Her Bachelor's and
Master's work was done at Northwestern University where she received degrees in
Music Education and Flute Performance. She studied with Emil Eck and Walfrid
Kujala, both former piccolo players with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Laurel currently performs with the Salt Creek Sinfonietta, as well as the Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest. This summer, Laurel played principal flute with the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra on tour in England. She is former principal flute of the Wheaton Municipal Band, and has also performed with the Wheaton Symphony Orchestra.
Laurel is a member of the music faculty at Lewis University in Romeoville. In addition, she teaches flute at several area high schools and maintains a home studio. She is a judge for the Illinois Music Educators Association district band auditions and solo contests.
She and her husband Bob currently reside in Hinsdale.
