Laura
grew up with a cornet in her hands, learning her skills
through the Salvation Army Bands, Music Camps, and
Festivals. Her teachers have included Peggy Payton-Thomas,
Stephen Squires, Ron Modell, and Mark Ponzo. Currently she
is a member of he the 10-piece brass ensemble, CBB
Players,as well as Northbrook Symphony, West Suburban
Symphony, the Chicago Brass Band, and Northbrook Brass
Quintet.
She was a member of the Illinois Brass Band for
nine seasons, and she served as principal solo cornet for
three years. She has performed with several Symphony
Orchestras including Kishwaukee, Elmhurst, Rockford, and
Wheaton; and Concert Bands including DeKalb, Wheaton, and
Fox Valley. Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Trumpet
Performance and a Master of Arts in Library and Information
Studies from Northern Illinois University and is Manager of
Technical Services at the Evanston Public Library.
